Work Arrangements: Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position will require some physical presence at the NRC work location identified, in the form of a hybrid work arrangement (a combination of working onsite and offsite).

Your Challenge

Help bring research to life and drive your career forward with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), Canada's largest research and technology organization.
 
We are looking for a Human Resources (HR) Advisor, Official Languages (OL) to support our HR Branch. The HR Advisor would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

The HR Advisor will provide strategic and functional guidance and subject matter expertise to advance official languages and linguistic duality at the NRC. You will work closely with management, champions, HR practitioners and other service providers to transfer and build knowledge of OL requirements, promote linguistic duality, foster respect for and use of both official languages in the workplace, encourage language learning and maintenance, and advance OL policy and practices. 

This position will be part of a new work unit responsible for the delivery of workplace programs to advance equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), official languages (OL) and wellness.

This role will appeal to a strategic-thinking professional who sees official languages as a part of Canada’s history and identity, and is motivated by the challenge of promoting and advancing official languages in a science and innovation context.

Education

Degree from a recognized university in a field relevant to the work to be performed.

An equivalent combination of experience, education, training and/or experience may be accepted.

Experience

  • ​Experience in human resources management 
  • Experience providing guidance and advice on official languages policies, programs and/or practices.
  • Experience designing and developing programs, tools and/or approaches for broader roll-out and use by various stakeholders. 
  • Experience transferring knowledge to others (e.g. managers, HR practitioners, other service providers).

  • Advanced subject matter expertise related to official languages legislation and requirements, and progressive practices to advance official languages and lingusitc duality
  • Strong knowledge of HR management principles, practices, current trends and priorities
  • Ability to provide sound advice and to transfer knowledge to stakeholders including managers, HR practitioners and other service providers. 
  • Ability to produce high quality written products including reports, communiques, briefings, tools and resource materials for multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage projects, deliver results,  and bring work to completion.

Relocation

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.

Compensation

From $89,315 to $99,280 per annum. 

 

In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.

  • A pre-qualified list will be established for similar positions for a one year period.

  • This position is being advertised internally and externally simultaneously, however first consideration will be given to internal NRC applicants.
  • As an added bonus, NRC employees receive an additional week off at the end of December. NRC shuts down between the 24th of December and the 1st of January. Employees are paid for this time, but make up the hours during the year.
