The role

Help bring research to life and drive your career forward with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), Canada's largest research and technology organization.

We are looking for a Project Management Coordinator (PMC) to support our Astronomy Technology team.  The PMC would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

The Project Management Coordinator is responsible for supporting program/project management activities by working closely with project managers and providing expertise on practices, systems and tools in order to ensure projects are tracked and managed efficiently.  

The PMC relieves the project team of project management administrative responsibilities by entering, adjusting and maintaining project data using SAP (Project Systems module) and Share Point On-Line OpZone to help all stakeholders have an accurate picture of the project status and forecast. The PMC prepares status reports at team and program levels to assist the Project Managers to make informed decisions in order to deliver projects on scope, on time and on budget.

They also provide a range of other project coordination services, including procurement activities and advice on the processes and tools related to project coordination.

Screening criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

Successful completion of a two-year college degree or diploma in business administration, project management or related field and intermediate level training in project management.

Experience

  1. Significant* experience supporting project management for multiple multi-disciplinary teams and multi-partner projects simultaneously. 
  2. Significant* experience gathering and synthesizing information; maintaining project data integrity; tracking project resources, milestones and deliverables; and producing project reports.
  3. Experience supporting procurement activities preferably in coordination of project-related contracts and equipment/asset acquisition.
  4. Experience with Power BI and/or Power Query.
  5. Experience using SAP Project Systems would be considered an asset.
  6. Experience using Python would be considered an asset.

 

*Significant experience is defined as at least two (2) years of experience.

Reliability Status
For a Reliability Status, verification of background information over a period of 5 years is required.

  2. Knowledge and understanding of procurement strategies, processes and coordination systems, preferably in a government environment.
  3. Ability to structure, organize, and synthesize information.
  4. Ability to read and interpret project and financial data and prepare project status reports.
  5. Ability to set and manage competing priorities and complete tasks within tight timelines.
  6. Ability to execute on multiple projects and provide ongoing status updates.
  7. Advanced ability using Excel to create complex reports from large data sets, pivot tables, graphs, advanced formulas, data cleaning, etc.

Compensation

From $68,047 to $80,289 per annum.
