The National Research Council’s Strategic Communications team is looking for talented and dynamic Senior Communications Advisors!

Under the direction of the Manager, Strategic Communications, you will work as part of a team focussed on providing communications advice and support to your assigned clients. You will plan, coordinate, and implement a wide range of communications projects, products, services, and activities. You will also work closely with the different communications teams and networks across the National Research Council on best practices, approaches, and problem-solving.

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

 

Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter how they meet the education and experience factors listed on the poster. Candidates must use the education/experience criteria as a header and then write one or two paragraphs demonstrating how they meet them by providing concrete examples.

 

In addition, candidates are encouraged to describe in detail when, where and how he/she gained the experience. Failure to provide an appropriate cover letter will result in the rejection of your application. Candidates will not be solicited for incomplete or possible missing information.

Education

A university degree in a communications related area of study, which could include marketing.

 

Candidates with a degree or education in a related field combined with relevant experience may be considered.

Experience
  • Significant experience providing strategic communications advice on complex and sensitive issues to senior level clients.
  • Significant experience in planning and implementing communications plans, products and activities.
  • Significant experience in writing and producing at least three of the following communications products: news releases, backgrounders, media lines, fact sheets, Qs and As, speaking notes, articles for a corporate newsletter, web content, and social media content.
  • Experience managing external and/or internal communications for high profile, complex or sensitive issues.
  • Significant experience in managing client relationships in a high-demand environment, including experience in responding to multiple, often conflicting deadlines.
  • Experience in promoting horizontal communications activities that involve a multi-pronged approach such as social media, media relations, creative services, etc. 

 
* Significant experience means two to five years.

Relocation

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.

Salary Range

From $92,150 to $98,788 per annum.

  • Overtime may sometimes be required.
