The role

We are looking for a Technical Officer, Quality Assurance to support our Design and Fabrication Services Branch. The Technical Officer, Quality Assurance would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

 

The Technical Officer, Quality Assurance is required to perform detailed dimensional and quality control inspections on a wide variety of parts and assemblies, to perform 3D data acquisition to support DFS activities as well as assist the Quality Manager with implementation and continuous improvement the Quality Management System. 

Screening criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

Two-year college diploma in quality assurance, quality control, mechanical engineering technology or precision fabrication trade.

 

The following certification(s) might be considered as assets:  

  • Quality control Technician
  • Quality control Inspector
  • Auditor or Quality Assurance Process Analyst

Experience

  • Significant* and recent hands-on experience in performing quality control and dimensional inspections on mechanical parts and assemblies within the context of an ISO compliant Quality Management System.
  • Significant* experience using 3D metrology systems such as Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), 3D scanning techniques and related software.
  • Basic** experience working in, maintaining and continuously improving ISO 9001 type quality management system processes, including non-conformances, corrective and preventive actions, and auditing.
  • Basic** experience in performing calibration of traditional measuring instruments.

**Basic: 6 months to 2 years 

*Significant: 2 to 6 years

Condition of employment

Secret clearance

 

A thorough security clearance process will be applied. 

 

For a Secret Clearance, verification of background information over a period of 10 years is required. Individuals must have lived in Canada for a sufficient period of time to enable the security screening process.

Technical competencies

  • Advanced knowledge in reading and interpreting engineering drawing with understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing standard.
  • Determine the conformity of manufactured parts using a variety of metrology equipment including Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and 3D scanners.
  • Solid knowledge of 3D metrology software such as Polyworks Inspector.
  • Knowledge of manual metrology equipment usage and calibration process of such equipment.

Compensation

From $66,126 to $91,012 per annum.
