The Role
We are looking for a Technical Officer, Infrastructure to support our Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre (CPFC) Research Centre. The incumbent would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
The Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre (CPFC) offers our clients and partners access to cutting-edge photonics fabrication services providing simulation, design, fabrication, testing, characterization, prototyping and foundry services to help move innovative photonics devices to market.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide specialized technical services on a wide variety of complex semiconductor Infrastructure equipment and facilities necessary to support multi-shift fabrication activities. The incumbents will also safely operate, repair, test and pro-actively maintain Infrastructure equipment in order to increase capabilities and maximize uptime.

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:
Education
Post-secondary education in electronics, robotics or other electro-mechanical discipline related to the position.
An equivalent combination of work related experience, training and education would also be considered.

Experience
- Recent* experience providing technical support within a semiconductor manufacturing cleanroom or similar fast paced industrial environment.
- Experience documenting, writing procedures and analyzing data using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience installing and maintaining semiconductor Lab Infrastructure equipment, Ultra High Purity (UHP) water systems, High Purity gas installations, Bulk delivery systems.
- Recent* experience installing and maintaining Gas Monitoring and Life Safety systems and modifications.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits such as (Digital/Analog I/O, pressure and flow sensors).
- Experience handling hazardous and/or Toxic chemicals, compressed gases and waste in an industrial environment.
- Experience operating, monitoring and calibrating process equipment such as abatement systems, waste neutralization plants, solvent collection systems and process vacuum systems.
The following criteria would be considered assets:
- Experience repairing and/or rebuilding electrical and/or mechanical assemblies (eg: pumps, motors, drives, bearings etc).
- Experience providing Emergency Response in a semiconductor Fab environment.
- Experience utilizing computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
* Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last two (2) years.
Condition of Employment
- Reliability Status.
- Must qualify to work in a Controlled Goods Zone. Training will be provided.
- Must be able to lift items up to 50 kg.
- Must be able to use a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) policies, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and safe work practices required in an industrial environment.
- Ability to operate, repair and maintain complex semiconductor Infrastructure equipment and facility interfaces.
- Ability to interpret and apply technical directions from a variety of sources including engineering drawings, facility interface documentation, data acquisition systems, repair manuals, industry standards and standardized procedures.
- Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures and Best Practices of duties such as gas cylinder changes, hazardous waste collection and neutralization, and gas monitoring calibrations.

Compensation
From $64,829 to $89,227 per annum.
