We are looking for a Technical Officer to support the Advanced Electronics and Photonics Research Centre. The Technical Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

The successful candidate will provide specialized technical support services to a wide variety of Semiconductor and Photonic manufacturing suite of equipment and facilities. The position is also involved in experiments/test preparation and laboratory and equipment management. May also participate in project management related activities.

Education

Post-secondary education in a technical, engineering or scientific discipline related to the position.

Experience
  • Significant experience with the safe operation, maintenance/verification/repair and/or installation of Ultra high Vacuum pumps and process chambers.
  • Significant experience with lithography, CVD, MOCVD, ETCH and other photonic device manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with project management related activities, including providing technical guidance.
  • Significant experience in hazardous gas and chemical handling would be an asset.

  • The incumbent will be required to work shift work.
  • Must qualify to work in a Controlled Goods Zone. Training will be provided.

  • Knowledge of project management principles, tools and processes.
  • Knowledge of maintenance management strategies to optimize equipment availability in research and manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety regulations and legislation required to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Ability to work safely with hazardous gases and chemicals in a clean room environment.

Relocation

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.

Salary Range

From $57,581 to $78,857 per annum.
