We are looking for a Senior Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Officer to support our Knowledge, Information and Technology Services Branch. The Senior Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

 

The Senior ATIP Officer provides services in all areas related to the administration of the Access to Information and Privacy Acts and contributes to ensuring that NRC meets its statutory obligations with relation to this legislation.  As a key member of a small (3 person) ATIP team, the Senior ATIP Officer works closely with the ATIP Coordinator on all files, and liaises with internal and external parties to coordinate the effective completion of requests and resolution of issues.


The Senior ATIP Officer processes complex requests; develops and implements processes and procedures, prepares files and responds to complaints that emerge from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and the Office of the Information Commissioner; and works on a range of projects such as ATIP electronic case management system enhancements and training activities.

Education

Graduation with a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.

Formal training in ATIP legislation and policies would be considered an asset.

Experience
  • Experience (3-5 years) interpreting and applying provisions of access to information and privacy (ATIP) legislation in a government context.
  • Experience in providing advice and guidance to senior management on ATIP and promoting ATIP policies in a government organization.
  • Experience in reviewing and updating procedures and guidelines for the administration of ATIP
  • Experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders, partners and clients

Technical Competencies
  • Knowledge of ATI legislation and related TBS guidelines, policies and procedures, the role of the Information Commissioner, legal precedents and opinions affecting ATI requests
  • Knowledge of Privacy legislation, and related TBS guidelines, policies and procedures, the role of the Privacy Commissioner, legal precedents and opinions affecting privacy requests
  • Knowledge of Government of Canada structures, organizational entities, and decision-making processes.
     
Behavioural Competencies

Relocation

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.

Salary Range

From $68,066 to $80,021 per annum. 

In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.

  • A pre-qualified list may be established for similar positions for a one year period.
  • Overtime may sometimes be required.
