We are looking for a Research Officer to support our Clean Energy Innovation Research Centre. The Research Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

 

You will be part of the LCA/TEA and Data Analytics team. The primary role of this position is to support in stakeholder engagement, including industry and other government departaments . The ideal candidates will understand how sustainability assessment of clean technologies are performed and understand the regulation ecosystem in Canada and internationally.

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

PhD in a relevant area of expertise or a Master’s Degree in Engineering combined with work experience in research or technology development.

Experience

  • Significant experience in one or more competency areas required in the Portfolio research program areas.
  • Experience in the full spectrum of research activities including identification of research requirements, proposal writing, project management, data production and analysis, and reporting through written documentation, presentations and publishing. 
  • Experience in experimental design and analysis including data collection and analysis, overseeing data production, and ensuring data quality. 
  • Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong background in clean energy technologies such as batteries, carbon dioxide capture and hydrogen technologies. 
  • Significant experience in business development, and/or the development of partnerships and collaborations.

Technical Competencies

  • Advanced knowledge on data analytics
  • Advance knowledge on sustainability assessment
  • Advanced knowledge of process engineering and materials science.
  • Advanced knowledge of battery materials and cells, carbon dioxide capture capture or hydrogen technologies will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage research projects and and stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to communicate scientific concepts clearly to both expert and lay audiences.

 

Assets:

 

  • Knowledge of process modeling and simulation software such as ASPEN PLUS/Hysys, ProSim.
  • Knowledge of life cycle assessment software such as openLCA, Brightway LCA.

Compensation

From $62,071 to $175,466 per annum.
