Work Arrangements:
- Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (combination of working onsite and telework). Employees in this position who telework will be required to travel to the identified work site at least three times per week at their own expense.

The Role
We are looking for a Research Officer, Human-Computer Interaction to support our Digital Technologies Research Centre. The Research Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
The Research Officer, Human-Computer Interaction's main responsibilities are to:
- Plan, design, and conduct research activities related to human-computer interaction (HCI) and related technologies including virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality;
- Lead experimental development activities, data collection from various sources and analysis of data using proven scientific approaches and methodologies;
- Engage in knowledge creation and dissemination activities, including publishing in scientific journals and conferences;
- Administer computerized tools to develop questionnaires and surveys using computerized tools and equipment;
- Conduct physiological and/or behavioural measurements using data acquisition methods and systems;
- Process and manage data, and conduct statistical analysis using software tools;
- Manage internal and external (client-supported) projects
Screening Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:
Education
A master’s degree in engineering, or a doctoral degree in psychology, computer science, or a closely related field with an emphasis on human-computer interaction (e.g., course work in human-computer interaction factors methods, perception/cognition, statistical analysis of behavioural/physiological data, workspace/equipment layout)
Equivalent combination of work-related HCI experience, training and education may be considered.

Experience
Because of the innovative nature of the work, we recognize that candidates may have limited experience. Therefore, we are open to providing opportunities for candidates able to demonstrate strong potential in this field.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Matlab, etc.
- Experience using computerized tools or systems for experimental data collection
- Experience using analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Experience in publishing in scientific conferences and/or journals.
Plus one or more of the following assets:
- Experience in 3D content creation/programming
- Experience programming surveys using Qualtrics or similar tools
- Experience doing statistical analysis using R and/or SPSS
- Experience with physiological data collection and processing
- Experience performing annotation and segmentation of video data
- Experience using qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo)
- Experience surveying or conducting research with human participants
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment

Compensation
The intent of this hiring action is to staff this position at the AsRO level, which is an early-career level position with a salary range of $63.470 to $114,354.
In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
