We are looking for a Programmer Analyst, SharePoint to support our Knowledge, Information and Technology Services (KITS) Branch. The selected candidate would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

The key activities for this position are the following:

  • Designs, develops, tests, implements and maintains SharePoint solutions and supports quality assurance activities.
  • Participates in the selection, installation, configuration and testing of SharePoint applications and third-party tools and ensures adherence to NRC's standards.
  • Makes changes and enhancements to NRC's SharePoint environment, including software release deployments and cumulative updates.
  • Creates SharePoint site collections and content databases.
  • Develops and maintains scripts or automation routines using PowerShell or other scripting languages as required, including all related documentation.
  • Resolves technical SharePoint application issues.
  • Participates in the continuous monitoring of SharePoint application performance and usage.
  • Supports new roll-outs from the development to the production environments.

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:


Bachelor degree in Computer Science or other related field. A Technical College diploma in Computer Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered.

  1. Significant* and recent* experience designing and developing SharePoint applications using Object Oriented programming.
  2. Significant* and recent* experience in HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  3. Recent* programming experience using .NET, .ASP and C#.
  4. Recent* experience developing SharePoint components using SharePoint client object model (CSOM) and PnPjs library.
  5. Recent* experience using the PowerShell scripting language.

Experience in the following areas is not required, but would be considered an asset:

  • Experience with cloud-based Microsoft products and services, especially SharePoint Online.
  • Experience developing SharePoint Add-Ins using the SharePoint Framework (SPFx).

* Significant is defined as experience of at least two (2) years.
* Recent is defined as experience within the last (6) years.

Technical Competencies

  1. Thorough understanding of the theories, and principles of web applications development particularly with Microsoft SharePoint technologies in combination with ability to communicate with technical specialists as well as with user community.
  2. Knowledge of theories and principles of the software development life cycle.
  3. Solid knowledge of web development standards including HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  4. Solid knowledge of the TypeScript programming language and of the React framework.
  5. Solid knowledge of the HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP).
  6. Knowledge of the PowerShell scripting language.
  7. Knowledge of Sharepoint Add-Ins, SPFx Framework, Sharepoint PnPjs and SharePoint client object model (CSOM).

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.

Salary Range

From $73,450 to $92,229 per annum. 

An incumbent occupying a position within the CS Group is currently entitled to receive a terminable allowance of $176 per month.
