The Knowledge, Information and Technology Services Branch for a Library Services Officer to support the NRC Library in delivering reference and library services to our researchers and clients. The Library Services Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.


Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Library Services, the Library Services Officer main responsibilities are:

  •  Handles enquiries from NRC and external clients on tools and services offered by the library, either by answering the enquiry directly or by transferring to a knowledgeable librarian or specialist.
  • Triages and manages these enquiries through client request management system and/or library systems.
  • Handles requests from NRC and external clients regarding document delivery and interlibrary services.
  • Provides in-person reference services and handles on-site circulation and document delivery from the print collection.

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:


Library and Information Technician Diploma Program according to provincial/territorial standards.
High school diploma according to provincial standards with a minimum of five years working in government, academic or science library may be considered.

  1. Significant experience in the provision of library client support or reference services;
  2. Significant experience with library systems;
  3. Experience providing interlibrary loan and document delivery;
  4. Experience in government, academic or science library would be an asset.

  2. Knowledge of document delivery, ILL, and circulation processes and tools.
  3. Ability to use web-based library tools (Federal Science Library portal, catalogue, licensed databases, e-resources)
  4. Ability to effectively support clients and create client-focused processes

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.


From $60,143 to $70,963 per annum. 

In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
