The Role

We are looking for a Lead, Physical Security Services to support our Security Branch. The Lead, Physical Security Services  would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

 

The Lead, Physical Security Services will be responsible for the management and operations of Physical Security for the National Research Council, including the Ottawa-based operations (6x Campuses in the National Capital Region) and 18 regional operations nationwide. This includes overseeing the National Capital Region M-01 security command post, corporate Card Access & Alarm Systems (CAAS), Digital Video Management Systems (DVMS), personnel identification program (ID badge) and Safety and Fire Alarm systems all in accordance with the Policy on Government Security.

 

The Lead, Physical Security Services will also be responsible for the direct supervision of two subordinate positions (Physical Security Administrator and Executive Driver and Risk Assessment Program Analyst).

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

Minimum of a college diploma in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or other related discipline. 


Graduation from a program specializing in project management would be considered an asset, but not required.

Experience

  • Significant* experience in the management of daily physical security operations involving administration, client services, systems maintenance, electronic security and hardware.
  • Recent** experience in dealing with customer service including emergency situation and response.
  • Recent** experience in project management.
  • Significant* experience in the physical and electronic security industry.


* Significant is defined as 2 to 6 years of experience.

** Recent is defined as within the last five years

Condition of Employment

Secret (II)

 

A Secret clearance must be obtained within 12 months of employment.


Must be available to work overtime.


Must be able to occasionally travel.

Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge of planning and construction methods, processes and procedures, estimating, budgeting and scheduling practices for security and construction projects, building codes and construction safety standards and practices, both theoretical and practical aspects of security and construction project management, including techniques and tools.
  • Knowledge of legal issues and safety standards related to construction, would be an asset but not required.
  • Knowledge of SAP modules as related to projects (particularly Controlling, Financial Accounting and Project System) and Microsoft Excel and Word, would be an asset but not required.

Compensation

Salary under review 

 

From $73,744 to $94,839 per annum. 

 

In addition, the incumbent who meets the language requirements will  receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
