Work Arrangements: 

  • Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (combination of working onsite and telework). Employees in this position who telework will be required to travel to the identified work site at least three times per week at their own expense.

The Role

We are looking for a vibrant and dynamic Junior Digital Media Officer to support our Communications Branch. The Junior Digital Media Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.


As the Junior Digital Media officer, you will be responsible for content creation and maintenance of the NRC’s internal and external websites.  You will work closely with other digital media officers and advisors to ensure our web presence complies with the Government of Canada web standards (including official languages and accessibility).  In addition, you will be responsible for monitoring the team mailbox and tasking incoming requests.

Screening Criteria

Education

Post-secondary education in communications, design, or in a field relevant to the work to be performed. 

An equivalent combination of education and significant experience in a related field may also be considered.

Experience

  • Basic recent experience developing web pages with HTML5 coding using publishing tools (Dreamweaver) or a content management systems (Drupal, AEM, etc.).
  • Experience in graphic design and/or with multimedia products such as videos, podcasts, and image editing tools.

 

Asset

  • Experience with the management of multiple requests and coordination of related activities in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment.
  • Experience managing and monitoring organizational mailboxes

Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge of internet and web-based technologies and applications. 
  • Basic knowledge in applying World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standards, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and using the Canada.ca Design System.
  • Ability to code complex and accessible HTML5 content.

Compensation

From $71,373 to $76,755 per annum. 

 

In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
