The Role

We are looking for an “IT Analyst – Enterprise Security Operations Linux/Mac/Windows” to support our Knowledge, Information, and Technology Services Branch (KITS). The ideal candidates would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

 

The incumbents will work as members of the Standards and Desktop Infrastructure team within the Knowledge, Information, and Technology Services Branch (KITS), providing clients with IT support services for distributed computers and networks within the various Research Centres/Branches/IRAP of NRC.

 

Operations Support areas are:

  • Privilege Management
  • Remote Access & Support
  • End User Device Security & Data Protection
  • Enterprise Print Services

 

You might be the person we are looking for to fill this position to support operations of our end user device Enterprise Security Solutions for Linux, Mac, and Windows systems.

 

He/she will assist in the operations of NRC's end user device Enterprise Security Solutions. Collaborating as a part of a team you will be tasked to provide support to all the services within the team.

 

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

Successful completion of a College diploma in Computer Science or related field. Bachelor degree in Computer Science from a recognized University considered an asset.

 

Consideration may be given to candidates with significant experience and a High School diploma.

Experience

  • Experience providing desktop and technical support to users both locally and remotely (including problem analysis and resolution) in a Windows based environment including support of MS Office products, TCP/IP etc.
  • Experience using an Endpoint Security Solution to protect end user devices.
  • Significant* experience in supporting Microsoft Windows 10+ desktop operating systems, including imaging software and with Significant experience with Linux and Basic experience with Mac Os.
  • Significant* experience installing, configuring and maintaining the desktop hardware, software and peripherals.
     

Experience for some locations considered as assets: 

 

  • Experience supporting Servers/VM.
  • Experience supporting cloud based infrastructure

 

 *Significant is defined as more than 2 years of experience.

Condition of Employment

Secret (II)

 

A Secret clearance must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

Technical Competencies

  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing based on the language requirements of the position. 
  • Ability to use reasoning and problem solving skills for  troubleshooting of IT devices.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems (Windows 10 and 11), Solid knowledge of Linux and Basic knowledge of MAC operating systems.
  • Ability to research, analyse and communicate sound advice and expertise pertaining to complex IT issues to clients of varying technical knowledge, other team members, and management.
  • Knowledge of an Endpoint Security Solution such as Trellix ENS, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, BeyondTrust Privilege Management.
  • Knowledge of ITIL core processes such as Incident management, Service Request fulfilment, Knowledge management and asset management. 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks. 
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP suite of protocols

Compensation

Salary under review

 

From $74,552 to $93,612 per annum. 

 

An incumbent occupying a position within the CS Group is currently entitled to receive a terminable allowance of $176 per month.
