Work Arrangements: 

Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (combination of working onsite and telework). Employees in this position who telework will be required to travel to the identified work site at least three times per week at their own expense.

The Role

We are looking for a qualified Executive Assistant to the Director General to support the Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) Client Enablement & Governance team. The Administrative Assistant to the Director General would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.


 
Reporting directly to the Director General, IRAP Client Enablement & Governance, the Executive Assistant to the Director General enhances the effectiveness of the Director General by providing professional, multi-skilled and effective administrative support. The Executive Assistant to the Director General is the first line of contact with internal and external clients, responding to requests of a complex and confidential nature and aligning responses to the strategic goals of the organization.

Education

Successful completion of Secondary School according to provincial standards.

 

Post-secondary education in administration may be considered an asset.

Experience

  • Significant experience* in providing administrative support services at a senior management level- including managing and prioritizing all aspects of a busy executive office.
  • Significant experience* in drafting and proofreading minutes, memos and letters.
  • Significant experience* with MS Office suite products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
  • Significant experience* providing administrative support services to an executive within a federal government context, such as arranging meetings, making travel arrangements and processing claims, creating and maintaining files and data entry.
  • Experience using Sharepoint would be an asset.
     

*Significant experience is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties over a period of four (4) years or more.

  • Advanced knowledge of office administration procedures and practices such as preparing and maintaining files; preparing correspondence; arranging meetings; making travel arrangements; and data entry.
  • Ability to demonstrate discretion, tact and sound judgment, especially when reviewing sensitive or confidential information and determining the appropriate course of action.
  • Ability to perform tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directions, provide information, explain processes and respond to queries.
  • Ability to compose, proofread and edit documents and correspondence in both official languages.
  • Ability to manage a number of files in parallel, set priorities, and meet established deadlines.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • General knowledge of the objectives, procedures and structure of the NRC-IRAP is an asset.

Compensation

From $66,713 to $78,715 per annum. 

 

In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
