We are looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) Technical Advisor to support our Knowledge, Information and Technologies Services (KITS). The incumbent would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.


If you love data, then we need you!  We are looking for a Business Intelligence Technical Advisor to join the Data warehouse/Business Intelligence team. We’ve embarked on a multi-year initiative to consolidate multiple Sales, Grants & Contributions, and traditional Case Management applications into one enterprise CRM solution. This solution leverages the Microsoft Platform (D365, Power Apps, and Power BI) with various third-party add-ons.


The activities are:

  • Be a MS Power BI SME;
  • Extend our data platform by researching and applying new data technologies and modern databases moving from SAP BO solution to interactive and paginated MS Power BI reports;
  • Work with the team to determine the best technical solution and development process;
  • Support the team on ETL/ELT/data integration;
  • Be a back-up for the BI Team Lead when needed;
  • Manage the MS Power BI data gateway, data flow and data set.

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

Minimum of bachelor degree in Computer Science from a recognized University or related field. An equivalent combination of education and direct experience may be considered.

Experience

  1. Significant experience conducting architectural evaluation, design and analysis with enterprise Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence solutions in Microsoft technology stack;
  2. Significant experience in data management, data design and database architecture in an Agile environment.
  3. Experience creating reports and dashboards using Power BI;
  4. Experience with Power BI data modeling using DataFlow and DataSet;
  5. Experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) or Extract Load Transform (ELT) development.
  6. Basic experience writing complex SQL queries;
  7. Asset Microsoft Certification: Data Analyst Associate or Azure Data Engineer Associate or MCSA: SQL 2016 BI Development or MCSE: Data Management and Analytics or MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Development

Assessment Criteria

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

Technical Competencies

  1. Solid knowledge of software development methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum and/or LEAN.
  2. Solid knowledge of Microsoft Power BI including architecture and development.
  3. Solid knowledge in designing and implementing enterprise-wide data warehouse infrastructure.
  4. Solid ability to research and analyse requirements and recommend solutions.
  5. Ability to write SQL queries.

Relocation

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.

Compensation

From $89,548 to $112,660 per annum. 

An incumbent occupying a position within the CS Group is currently entitled to receive a terminable allowance of $212 per month.
