The NRC Advantage

GREAT MINDS. ONE GOAL. CANADA'S SUCCESS.

The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is the Government of Canada's largest research organization supporting industrial innovation, the advancement of knowledge and technology development. We collaborate with over 70 colleges, universities and hospitals annually, work with 800 companies on their projects, and provide advice or funding to over 8000 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) each year.

We bring together the brightest minds to deliver tangible impacts on the lives of Canadians and people around the world. And now, we want to partner with you.  Let your expertise and inspirations make an impact by joining the NRC.

At NRC, we know diversity enables excellence in research and innovation. We are committed to a diverse and representative workforce, an open and inclusive work environment, and contributing to a more inclusive Canadian innovation system.

NRC welcomes all qualified applicants and encourages candidates to self-declare as members of the following designated employment equity groups: women, visible minorities, aboriginal peoples and persons with disabilities.

Please advise of any accommodation measures required to enable you to be assessed in a fair and equitable manner. They are available to all candidates for further assessment. Related information received will be addressed confidentially.

Your Challenge

The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) itself is home to one of the country’s best known government support programs for small and medium-sized innovative companies – the Industrial Research Assistance Program, commonly known as IRAP.  In 2018, the Government of Canada designated IRAP as one of four flagship programs that will consolidate program initiatives and focus on providing customized support that Canadian businesses need to succeed and grow.

The uniqueness of IRAP has been the method in which NRC provides services to companies through a network of field staff known as Industrial Technology Advisors.  These people deliver both advice to our clients to further their business growth, and in some situations, make the case for IRAP to fund their client’s innovative projects.   Do you think you have what it would take to be part of this dynamic and exciting team? Are you passionate about clients? Love getting involved in challenging and complex business and technology problems?  Have a gift at sharing your wisdom with others and finding the way that will help them succeed?

We are looking for highly qualified Industrial Technology Advisors to support our multiple technical sectors and regional offices across the country. Seasoned industry professionals who are absolutely enthusiastic about helping innovative Canadian companies grow and prosper are the best fit for our team.  We need people who see the potential in a business and are driven to nurture it to the next level.  We are increasing our staff across the country and our clients need energetic and engaged professionals to guide them and invest in them as they grow.

As an ideal member of this team, you are focused on results, but you also understand that large success can sometimes mean taking risks.  You are honest and frank, but at the same time offer a gentle helping hand to your clients.

Your Challenge, Continued

IRAP is a program that is growing rapidly and full of opportunity and excitement.   We are changing fast and must remain agile.  But more than this – so are our clients.   We need people who champion change and look for ways to apply their vast knowledge and experience in innovative ways to the benefit of their clients.

This job poster is a general call to action for locations across our country – while we have some particular technical sectors that we are looking to meet for our clients, we are also looking for people who are technology conveners and would thrive in our environment and create success all around them.   The job action is going to remain open and we will be screening and assessing potential candidates throughout the next six months.   Apply early and don’t miss out on our opportunities.

As an employer who values diversity in its workforce, we encourage and welcome women, visible minorities, aboriginal peoples and persons with disabilities to apply to our positions.

Are you ready to be part of Canada’s tomorrow?
