Note: Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position will require some physical presence at the NRC work location identified, however, the option of a hybrid work arrangement (a combination of working onsite and offsite), may be possible.

We are looking for a Human Resources Advisor to support our Human Resources Branch. The Human Resources Advisor would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
 
Working as a partner with your assigned client group, the NRC’s Biologics Manufacturing Centre, the Human Resources Advisor will deliver high quality client service. You will work closely with your clients to provide support in a variety of HR disciplines to achieve BMC business goals and objectives. 

The new Biologics Manufacturing Centre (BMC), at the NRC, will improve the health of and make biomedical innovations more accessible to all Canadians by providing access to additional domestic production capacity for vaccines and biologic products in times of national and global emergencies and for unmet needs. The BMC will be certified as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliant, will have full end-to-end production capability for mammalian cell-based biologics. This includes a production capacity of approximately 4,000 litres per month, upstream and downstream processing, a quality control lab, filling and secondary packaging, and related logistics management for final products. In the short-term, the BMC’s top priority and focus is to help secure the production of a COVID-19 vaccine for Canadians as quickly as possible. In the longer term, the BMC’s focus will be on providing innovative solutions for the domestic production and supply of novel biologics for the future, while providing Canada with access to a facility that is ready to respond to emergencies, such as a pandemic. Come and take part in the establishment of the facility and participate in obtaining a drug establishment license from Health Canada. 

Working under the direction of a Human Resources Manager, this is a true generalist role, with key accountabilities including:

  • Providing front-line HR services and advice/guidance in areas such as staffing, labour relations, workforce planning, employment equity, performance management, classification, time management, disability management, learning and career development to their client.
  • Participating in developing and implementing HR activities in support of local needs and corporate initiatives.

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

Degree from a recognized university in a field relevant to the work to be performed or an advanced college diploma with a specialization in a discipline related to Human Resources.

An equivalent combination of experience, education, training and/or experience may be accepted.

Experience

  • Recent experience in the delivery of operational or program services in several Human Resources disciplines such as: staffing, classification, labour relations, human resources planning, performance management, disability management or learning.
  • Experience in researching and analyzing operational HR issues for clients and providing advice/guidance, options and recommendations.
  • Experience in using a human resources management system (such as SAP or PeopleSoft).
  • Experience working in a biomanufacturing organization and/or a start-up company would be an asset.
  • Experience in a unionized environment would be an asset.

Relocation

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.

Compensation

From $80,335 to $89,296 per annum. 

 

In addition, the incumbent who meets the language requirements will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
